I've tried silver shards and crushing weapon, both parsed somewhat the same (and ~4k behind Lethal Arrow). The debuff from crushing weapon is nice while soloing, however the caltrops make it abundant. Silver shards deals ok-ish damage, and that's about it. There are rarely situations with exactly two opponents, so I'll mostly stick with Acid Spray.

Rush of Agony has a much shorter cooldown, no crowd control immunity, and the pull is immediate. Silver shards is probably one of the best stamina abilities in the game. Did you try circle of protection? for my level 30 it sits on adding 240 armour and spell resist and an additional 240 armour and spell resist against daedra and undead.
